Lester Marks has been collecting contemporary art for over 20 years. Art Newsmagazine recognized Marks as one of the top 200 collectors in the world, and Art & Antiques magazine included him as one of the top 100 collectors making a difference in the art world. Marks' collection was also featured in the September 2011 edition ofAmerican Art Collector. He is President of International Art Advisory Services and has served as a trustee for both the MFA Houston and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, among many others.
A lively and engaging speaker, Marks will share colorful stories of his life as an enthusiastic collector of contemporary art, including works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Louise Bourgeois, Joseph Cornell, Kiki Smith, Chuck Close, Ruth Asawa, Larry Bell, John McCracken, and John Baldessari, among others. Marks will also discuss his own art practice creating digitally imaged photo works. He is represented by Hamamjian Modern and New Gallery in Houston, Texas.
